Who is Matt Angell?
Matt Angell, with his soulful originality, has emerged as a unique and distinctive singer/songwriter.
Growing up in Karratha, a small mining town in the Pilbara region on Western Australia's Northwest coast, Matt’s first forays into music began when a kindly school teacher gave him a sheet of paper with a few cords on it and lent him an old guitar, which had blown out the back of a Mini Moke.
As time passed, he managed to get the odd lesson here and there when he could, but mainly taught himself to play from books and records.
Matt thanks his neighbours for not calling the cops those first few years, when each afternoon the neighbourhood would be overcome with the sounds of a 15 year old boy trying to play like Jimi Hendrix. You see, Matt lived out the back in a caravan with no air-conditioning, so, with windows open, the racket of a 100 watt amp would blow the *bleep*atoos from the gum trees and fill the airways.
While he never quite became the next Jimi, he was always writing his own tunes. The rugged landscape and isolation of the area gradually infused itself into his song writing and while there is a harshness and barrenness to this land, there is also beauty, a beauty that is uniquely reflected in his music. It is a hybrid of Roots, Folk, Blues and Country, stripped back to reveal the essence of each song.

Who is Malcolm Angell?
Malcolm currently holds the position of National Director, Scripting & Relationship Management, Customer Service & Solutions with the Australian Taxation Office. His responsibilities within the ATO also include the contract and relationship management of a significant outsourced overflow arrangement.
Who is Charles Austen Angell?
I was born in Canberra, Australia, in 1933, first child of Herbert and Kate Angell, whose memory I hold in enormous love and respect. My father was a plant pathologist with a wealth of hobbies ranging from model T Ford reassembling, through 6-in. reflecting telescope lens grinding, to stoneware pottery (fired in a kiln fueled by sump oil from the local garageair pollution in Canberra in those days not being a grave problem). I think it was his casting of aluminum parts from scrap aircraft aluminum melted in the open-hearth dining-room fireplace that got me interested in hot liquids at an early age, and when it came time to choose undergraduate science courses at Melbourne University, I found the topics listed for chemical metallurgy far the most interesting.
Note: I believe that I may have met Charles Austen Angell's father (Herbert) during my time in Canberra in the 1970's. If I am correct, he was living in or around Ainslie at the time.
